BIO

Kate Johnson is a senior at Northview High School and an active student in the 3DE by Junior Achievement program. She has pursued a rigorous academic path, and will be completing eleven AP courses by graduation. In addition, she has earned recognition as an AP Scholar with Distinction. She has also been honored by the College Board's National Recognition Program for her academic achievements. Through 3DE, she has developed critical competencies such as cultural agility, engaging communication, creativity and innovation, and analytical thinking. These skills have led her to become a finalist in multiple company case challenges with firms like E*Trade, Delta, Arby's, and Jackson Healthcare, and her team's collaboration earned them first place in the UPS Case Challenge.

Outside the classroom, Kate demonstrates leadership and initiative across numerous activities. She is the founder and CEO of TopTea, a student-run bubble tea business that quickly sold out at launch and is now expanding with plans for external growth. She also serves as Treasurer of her school's Girls Who Code chapter, having previously held the role of Outreach Manager, and is Vice President of the inaugural Dance Club, leading efforts to establish an official school team. Kate has gained hands-on experience through internships, including a paid IT role refurbishing laptops for Fulton County Schools and a marketing internship with InzpireU, an AI startup where she focused on branding and visual design. She has also competed nationally with FBLA in visual design and continues to stay active in cricket, honor societies, and community volunteering.

Looking ahead, Kate aspires to major in artificial intelligence, blending her analytical skills with her creative passions. She has a deep love for the arts, particularly music, dance, and writing, and is self-taught in piano, guitar, hip-hop dance, and singing. Her ability to merge technical problem-solving with creative expression sets her apart, whether she is designing visuals for a project, writing lyrics, or exploring new ways to apply AI to real-world challenges. Kate's combination of innovation, leadership, and artistic drive makes her uniquely positioned to excel in both her future studies and career.

EXPERIENCE

Founder & CEO

2024 - Present

TopTea

TopTea is a student-run bubble tea business founded by three high school students with a shared goal: bringing a taste of Asian culture and diversity to our school community. What began as a simple idea quickly turned into a high-demand venture. At our first pop-up event, TopTea sold out in under two hours, with approximately 150–200 drinks sold, highlighting both strong community interest and effective execution. As Co-Founder and CEO, I led TopTea’s brand ideation and overall vision, developed the business plan, designed the technological components of the operation, and directed marketing efforts. Through TopTea, I gained hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, leadership, and building a product that connects culture with community.

Marketing Intern

2024

InzpireU

As a marketing intern at InzpireU, an AI-driven startup focused on guidance management solutions, I worked closely with the CEO to support the company’s early-stage growth. I contributed to Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the business plan, helping outline actionable steps for launch and expansion. Because InzpireU was in its startup phase, I gained hands-on experience across multiple areas of marketing and design. I analyzed engagement using Instagram business analytics tools, developed visual branding content, and offered design feedback to improve user appeal. I also created a UX strategy to help the CEO visualize the platform’s layout and functionality.

IT Intern

2023 - 2024

Fulton County Schools

As an IT intern with Fulton County Schools, I worked alongside team leaders and fellow interns on one of the district’s largest annual technology initiatives. As part of a 67-intern team, we collaborated to re-image, troubleshoot, and prepare over 80,000 student laptops for district-wide distribution. Despite being one of the youngest interns in the program (10th–11th grade summers), I earned a 100% performance evaluation and took initiative beyond my assigned role. In my first year, our team completed its sector two weeks ahead of schedule; in my second year, I helped refine our project planning process, allowing us to finish nearly three to four weeks early.
